What is a Bachelors degree?

An undergraduate academic degree is also known as a bachelor’s degree or baccalaureate degree. The name bachelor comes from the English word “bachelor” that means “young apprentice”.
This is appropriate because a bachelor degree is the first degree a student can get in an academic career. A master’s degree is what a student can earn after a bachelor’s degree; the master’s degree is then followed by a doctorate degree.

There are many different types of bachelor’s degree, but the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees are commonly awarded. A Bachelor of Arts degree is given to those in the humanities, arts, and social sciences, whereas a Bachelor of Science degree is for those who want to go into the sciences.

Other degrees also include Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Medicine. In order to obtain a bachelor’s degree, whether it’s in the Arts of Sciences, a student must have completed 180 credits in a specialized area of study.
